Just returned from a fun-filled week in Michigan! Our friends, Sandy and Scott, were tying the knot. So we all said let's go! Why not? ok, ok, I'll stop.
So back to the story. The trip to Michigan was also to visit our friends, Christine and Jimmy, who have two darling young ladies, Addison and Ellie, who are coincidentally, the same ages as Bella and Maddie. I won't repeat all the details that Christine has described on her own blog (see more pictures of fun at Christine's Blog), but here's a video of the girls' first experiencing door-to-door trick or treating in a real neighborhood:
This year Bella was Jessie from Toy Story and Maddie was Elmo, a recycled costume from Bella's younger years. Addison was appropriately dressed as Super girl while Ellie was an adorable little pumpkin. Friends, Steve and Yara came, as well, with their little cutie Chewbacca, Tommy. Jin wore his ridiculous mullet wig again just to say he dressed up, but together with Steve's Chewbacca mask, they scared the dickens outta any kid in the tri-state region.
The wedding itself was held at our great alma mater, U of M. As Christine described, Christine's wonderful nanny offered to watch all four children overnight so we jumped on the opportunity to spend the evening of the wedding in Ann Arbor, sans kiddies. Needless to say, the wedding and reception were a blast.
Sandy and Scott!! Congrats!

There's nothing more to say except that this photo makes me laugh really hard!
Great friends and great conversation without the nagging feeling that kids had to be tended to. It was definitely a break us parents all needed. But soon we returned home to the children we love. Who could stay away from these faces for long?
The following day, we took the opportunity to visit Jin's Grandpa, Aunt and Uncle in Saginaw. It was great to see them all. Grandpa was in wonderful spirits, especially since he'd never met Maddie before:
We miss you, Grandpa!

After a week-long adventure to the snow-laden land of Michigan, it was time to return to the sunny side of California. Thanks to the Kim's for being so hospitable! We miss you guys!
