Since Maddie was born, we've been pretty home-bound knowing how difficult it would be to take our youngest out in public without scorn and shame. We rarely went out to eat at restaurants and we certainly never ventured far off for fear of meltdowns. Plus, like Bella, we were strict sleep-nazi's, insisting that Maddie nap at her prescribed time every day. So Jin and I had made peace with the fact that we would put our adventurous lives on hold until our little Maddie Mei was ready to venture far with us. And just when you were getting used to this status quo, Maddie did something surprising that shifted our family dynamics.
