Halloween is by far one of my favorite holidays of the year.
When else do you get to dress up like a goon and still look cool? Now with the kids, there's even more of an excuse to go all out and crazy! This year we hosted a small halloween get together with a few family friends. Now that both kids are a bit older, Halloween can be a little creepier and scary and a little less like everyday dress-up day. We had all sorts of ghoulish fun!
Food was a plenty but for some reason, no one really touched any of it. Everything was definitely edible; maybe it was just too grotesque to eat! Blah!
Fleshy Fingers (prosciutto wrapped grissini)
Brain hemorrhage jello shots
Mashed Potato Ghosts
Skeletal Fingers (white asparagus)
Hand-shaped ice cube in spiked rum punch
Crescent wrapped Mummy Dogs
Kitty litter crumb cake
Broccoli cheese soup with floating egg eyeballs
For some reason, the shots served by the bar fly were quite popular, amongst the adults, that is.
Who can resist the cute little kitty and pirate?
...and scary dragon!
Er, I mean, scary Mustache Molester Man...
Last year Bella coerced me into buying an adult-sized Cinderella
princess costume. I rationalized the pricey investment by vowing to wear it
every consecutive year thereafter. Turns
out, this year my Buccaneer Beauty outfit was once again the top winner. Don’t ask me why. So I recycle. Sue me.
Trick or Treat!
But Maddie and Bella were great sports and they managed to collect quite a hoard of candy. Here's a clip of them in action:
The remainder of the evening was spent negotiating which piece of candy everyone could and couldn't eat and trying to avoid the inevitable sugar high. But hey, that's what Halloween is for!
