On July 1st, 2006, after nearly 12 hours of intense but bearable labor, our friends Cathy and Marcus Littman welcomed their first beautiful baby daughter:
Kaelyn Jade Littman,
Born 6 pounds, 14 ounces
at 5:16pm EST.
Mom and baby are resting well and have already gone home.
We're so happy for our friends! She's absolutely beautiful!

Several amazing facts about Cathy's pregnancy will astound you. First, Cathy will be the envy of most women when they learn that she gained a total of 13 pounds throughout her entire pregnancy. Yes, that's right, 13 pounds - TOTAL! Most women gain on average 25 to 35 pounds. And if the woman is skinnier pre-pregancy (she was), she can expect to gain even more than the typical 35 pounds (she didn't).
Then of course most women notice the weight gain goes straight to the face, legs, or other extremities. Most notably for me, I gained in my upper arms and middle thighs (thanks to my friends for lying to me when pregnant to make me feel skinnier).
But not Cathy. Cathy's petite frame remained the same throughout the entire 9 months, with weight graciously distributing only to her enlarged mammaries (a blessing in itself, according to Marcus).
Then consider the size of the baby. At nearly 7 pounds, this leaves just over 6 pounds to account for the weight gain to her new upper appendages. How big did they get? You do the math.
Anyway, I've digressed...Let's not detract from the beauty of the moment, which is to celebrate in the joyous arrival of Baby Kaelyn! Can't wait to meet you in person someday soon!
