And after knowing how Disney runs deep into the American psyche of young children, this really isn't such a far-off notion. After all, they do coincidentally have biannual shows during the two most low-key times of the year - late Fall when all the excitement of a new school year has worn off, and early March when all you can do is hope for a fun spring break. This is marketing genius at it's finest.

Yet despite the crowning achievement of the Disney franchise, this year the downturned economy left plenty of tickets unsold. Enter Mommy Mayhem sweeping in to grab reasonably priced VIP-like second row tickets on the floor of the ice. It was a good thing we got such great seats upfront because with Maddie's pint sized frame, she was sure to have lost interest without a great view. But just as I was internally gloating about my quality ticket purchase, a man the size of Conan the Barbarian and his young daughter waddled in during the first act to sit squarely in front of us in the first row. Poor Maddie now had a view of the man's bald cranium.
After a few sighs of annoyance, I quickly devised a makeshift booster seat made of the backpack and plopped Maddie on top. She wasn't quite balanced on top and it was surely a bit uncomfortable sitting on water bottles and other pokey items that litter our bag, but it was better than the chrome-dome obstruction ahead. At least now she had a view of the stage. Bella, who is now old enough to independently act on her own, maneuvered two seats down to peak between shoulders of some regular-sized patrons in front. All in all, we had a great time and of course we memorialized the event with an over-priced photo of the girls that surely made up for the cheap ticket prices. Damn you, Disney!
