Day 10: Rome and Tuscany

at Thursday, September 26, 2013

Hello, my little princesses,
Today we spent the day visiting the Vatican Museums. These museums contain the most spectacular Roman art and architechture of the world. You might be familiar with the famous artist, Michelangelo who painted the famous ceilings of the Sistine Chapel. Take a look at the breathtaking pictures painted across the entire length of the ceiling, which contains over 300 pictures stretched over 500 meters!

It took Michelangelo four years to complete the ceilings, all painted while looking upwards or laying flat on his back suspended high in the sky.  What a grand achievement!

The Vatican Museums contained other magnificent sculptures and paintings. Royal rugs, beautiful tiled floors and detailed murals decorate the walls of the massive museum.

It took us several hours to walk through the entire museum. It's safe to say that Dad and I were exhausted afterwards!

The next day we traveled to Tuscany, located in the middle of Italy. The countryside of Italy was so peaceful and scerene. Here's a few pictures of the majestic clouds. Can you tell me what kind of clouds these are? Looks to me to be cumulus clouds.

Today's clue for Maddie: Find the box with your name in the guest room.
For Bella: Find the box with your name.

Love,
Monkey Mommy and Daddy xoxo
